Estrofest
Mission
Estrofest provides an
environment where women filmmakers, musicians and visual
artists can showcase their work, vision and voices in
a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
Founded in October 2002
by Kaarina Aufranc and Shauna Stoddart, Estrofest began
as a short film festival dedicated to motivating women
to get behind and in front of the camera. In 2004, with
the help of Kipling Rowe, their new creative partner,
Estrofest grew into a full-fledged women’s arts
festival committed not only to female filmmakers but
also to female musicians, designers, photographers,
and artists.
Estrofest is expanding
its activities by pursuing external funding sources
in order to better support the work of aspiring female
artists. Projects include developing a feature film,
that will not only contribute to its community but will
reach audiences worldwide; and establishing a regular,
monthly venue that will continue to provide a platform
for women to showcase their work and meet and network
with like-minded individuals.
Shauna, Kaarina and
Kipling hope Estrofest will continue to grow in all
avenues of its work, evolving into an active and spirited
community dedicated to promoting the female artist.
